Dr. Richard Amponsah has over the years shown competence in the areas of teaching, research, and leadership at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He holds a Doctorate degree in Project Management from the RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He is a “Trail Blazer”, being the first from Africa to attain the Doctor of Project Management in RMIT, Melbourne, Australia. He holds a Master’s degree in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
He is an International award winner. He won an International Award in 2007 as a scholar for the Investment Climate and Business Environment-TrustAfrica, Nairobi, Kenya to undertake a Research Project titled “Real failure factors of Small-Medium Enterprise Projects in Ghana.  In 2011, he was appointed by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor to Lead a team of Consultants to Scale-up disbursement of Donor Funds for Projects in seven key sectors namely Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Works and Housing, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. He is the President of College of Project Professionals, a Project Management Professionals chapter in Ghana. He was a consultant on the Urban Transport Project of the Ministry of Transport. He has been involved in a number consultancy works for GIMPA including the Ghana Poverty Reduction Programme. Since 2007, he has been working as consultant for the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA). He has reviewed and published papers in these fields and presented papers at International conference including visit to Caux, Switzerland and London by the invitation of the Oxford Group of the Initiatives of Change.  He has chaired Barclays Bank, Ghana Limited project management recruitment process for two consecutive times. Dr. Amponsah was one of the Key Speakers at the 2011 Ghana Energy Summit. He presented a Paper, Project Infrastructural Implementation Challenges in Ghana at the just ended GIMPA at 50 International Conference.
Since 2004, Dr. Amponsah has lectured altogether over 5000 participants in Project Management at GIMPA, Pan African Institute, Ghana Technology University College, University of Ghana, Legon,  Ghana Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Regional Maritime University, Ghana Armed Forces, Project Management College, Central Professional Institute, Entrepreneurship Institute, Institute of Local Government Studies, World Health Organization, Plan Ghana International, Ghana Education Services, Sinapi Aba Trust, CWSA among others.  He is an experienced trainer and manager.
